John has more than 30 years’ experience working in an insolvency office. 

John left school in May 1989and by August of that year was working full time at a top 10 Corporate Recovery and Insolvency practice, in the centre of Birmingham.

He spent the next few years dealing with small Liquidation cases, Individual Voluntary Arrangements and Bankruptcies combined with studying accounting courses at night school.

Invaluable experience was then gained during the recession of the early 1990s, particularly with trading insolvencies in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

During the course of his career, John has dealt with a variety of businesses, ranging from large entities (with hundreds of creditors) to charitable organisations (with only a handful of creditors), guiding business owners through a formal insolvency process.

John joined Irwin & Company in January 2003, since when he has managed a large portfolio of Corporate Insolvency casework.

John qualified as a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 2005, having passed his JIEB exams and he is also a Member of R3.

Over the last few years, John has specialised in solvent liquidations, assisting business owners maximise their capital return and take advantage of the tax breaks that are available.

When he is not at work, John is an avid sports fanatic and a West Bromfan (for his sins). He enjoys any spare time with his wife and three children.

For some years John has been a Trustee of Charitable Organisations, one of which his wife recently incorporated, providing essential items to vulnerable young mums and babies.
